Praying the Prayer of Agreement, with God
While meditating on a number of encounters where prayer was answered and a sudden break through that was granted, it was apparent to me that the Spirit of God had been directing not only the outcome of my prayer but also my prayer directed toward heaven as well. It was becoming more obvious to me that the Lord was more involved in my thoughts and prayers than I had previously understood. A series of events which had occurred over a period of about two to three weeks, coupled with scripture that was revealed during this period of reflecting, directed me toward this conclusion.
Other experiences and observations concerning answered prayer were surfacing, adding to the understanding. I had found a great simplicity in the prayer of agreement that prevailed in a notable pattern concerning answered prayer and the blessed joy that followed. I saw there are keys to unlocking the divine providence of God, which when understood will cause a whirl wind of favor and blessing to come upon the recipient and even to those surrounding them. Here are the series of events that led to this simple yet profound discovery.
About three weeks before writing this I had been in the presence of God just enjoying Him when I began to think about a friend of mine, His wife had mentioned about 6 mos, ago that her husband was wrestling over not acquiring His PHD in theology. He felt ill-equipped and inadequate to open a seminary for accredited theological study. I mentioned this to the Lord saying I know how much it would have meant to my friend. 2 weeks later this friend tells me a colleague has found a way for my friend to get His doctorate at a fraction of the cost! The Lord brought back to my thoughts that day when I was, what I thought casually mentioning it to the Lord. I discovered that the Lord not only Initiated the thought concerning my friend but called what I said to the Lord in response as prayer and answered it.
A couple of days prior to that we were holding a meeting at a local church and the Lord had given me a word for that body of believers. I told minister I was working with the word allowing Him to decide whether to release the word or not. When He got up to speak He asked me to come forward and release the word God had given me for that church. I spoke what God had given me, then the word pray came to mind. So I said lets pray over this, so the congregation of that church agreed with God through prayer for the promise that He gave, some incredible things happened that night just as the Lord said He would do.
I meditated upon the recent events in which the Lord moved dramatically and quickly, looking for a pattern to follow kind of like a bread trail. Although these are only two recent events mentioned there are many others and I believe if you look at this you will discover God’s pattern of answered prayer in your life too! The pattern I believe I have discovered through the scripture begins with Jesus and the Lords Prayer!
Therefore pray in this way: Our Father, who is in Heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we also forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil. For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. Mat 6:9-13
And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him. 1Jo 5:14,15
There is nothing said here about jumping through every kind of do and don ’t do hoop. Just going to God in prayer and at that, asking for His will to be done! Look at Jesus life He only did what he saw the father doing, or He came to do the will of Him who sent Him. The key then to answered prayer is the knowing the Father’s will. Whether through a prophetic word or impressions from the Holy Spirit, or prayer directed from the word of God. It is clear that if we ask or agree with God our Father in prayer according to His will He hears us and we have our petition. This is the most perfect form of the prayer of agreement, agreeing with God for his will to be done, and His kingdom to come.
One of the first places a person must begin with regard to prayer is to focus on the character and nature of God. From scripture we see the character of God in the statements that He declares about himself as timeless or unchangeable, He says "I change not". Once you understand the immutability, unchangeable nature and character of the God. In truth, justice, mercy, longsuffering, loving kindness, these along with the fruit of the Spirit are not just a list of words or verses to memorize and recite, the true revelation of God's character. Trusting in Him becomes much easier and prayer more faith filled when the goodness and integrity of God is believed.
In view of the Character of God lets proceed toward greater understanding of who He is. When this revelation is granted a incredible freedom and willingness to let go of our life and trust Him ever more occurs. God is good, trusting in His goodness and knowing He is......so willing to bless those who love him as well as those who desire to love Him is paramount. Most of us reside in the later house of desire, but as we press into that understanding of He who is more than able. We move from desire to revelation or glory to glory.
